Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to name their preferred successor to Jurgen Klopp.
It feels unlikely that the current Champions League-winning boss will be going anywhere anytime soon, seeing as he penned a new long-term contract back in December which will keep him at Anfield until 2024.
However, when the day does eventually come that Klopp has to leave, Liverpool fans on Twitter have already identified who they’d like to see take the reins – Julian Nagelsmann.
The RB Leipzig boss – who turned down a role with Bayern Munich in the past – is very highly-rated and has his side battling the Bavarians at the top of the Bundesliga, having constructed a high-energy side consisting of players such as Timo Werner, Dayot Upamecano and Emil Forsberg.
His side play similar football in terms of intensity to Klopp’s ‘Gegenpressing’ machine on Merseyside, and given Nagelsmann and Klopp’s background in German football, the RB Leipzig man does seem like he would be a decent fit to replace the former Borussia Dortmund coach.
Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying…
To kick off the reaction, one fan said that Nagelsmann is the man who should follow Klopp at Anfield.
Another called the former Hoffenheim boss the “heir to the throne” while another went as far as saying that Liverpool “need” to get him after their current manager leaves.
At just 32 years of age, Nagelsmann is one of the youngest managers in Europe and crucially, is 20 years younger than the 52-year-old Klopp – as good as he may be, the RB Leipzig man has considerably less experience in the game.
Elsewhere, one supporter even said Nagelsmann should be “top priority” to replace Klopp.
Another said he should be appointed over ex-Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

If Klopp sees out the remainder of his contract, then this isn’t a discussion we’ll be having until four years down the line, when Nagelsmann could be anywhere in Europe – he has previously said that Bayern Munich would be a dream job for him.
In other news, one Liverpool fan has told the club to “get rid” after Takumi Minamino’s comments…
