Nottingham Forest have not given up hope of signing West Ham United defender Sam Byram, despite the transfer window closing, according to The Nottingham Post.
What’s the story?
The right-back moved from his boyhood club Leeds United to West Ham in 2016 but has since struggled to make an impression for the Premier League outfit.
The 24-year-old has only made 17 Premier League starts since his move to the top-flight and it appears he is surplus to requirements at West Ham.
Byram is comfortable playing as a right-back or higher up the pitch and can cause a real threat with his pacy runs from deep.
Forest were interested in signing him this summer but now it looks like they will try to bring him in on a loan move with a view to a permanent deal, according to the report.

Byram has shown that he is a class talent at Championship level, even if he has struggled in the top-flight.
If Forest were able to sign him in any way, he could be a very useful addition for Aitor Karanka as he looks for cover at right-back.
Even though Karanka’s had a very busy transfer window, it appears there could still be another face coming to the City Ground.
