Former Real Madrid star Pepe recently had his contract terminated with Turkish side Besiktas after it was revealed that they were struggling financially, as reported by ESPN.
The 35-year-old, despite his age, is still a regular in the Portugal national team and has vast amounts of experience at the very top of the game. Pepe has won three Champions League medals, three La Liga titles and has had two Copa del Rey successes amongst other various titles whilst with Porto.
He has also won the European Championships with his country, and was named as Man of the Match for his performance in the final against France.
Liverpool are currently struggling with injuries in defence, with Joe Gomez and Joel Matip out for up to six weeks, so a shrewd move for free-agent Pepe may be a good idea as well as one which would see a player with a winning mentality arrive at the club.
